How Death Wish Coffee Solved Data Accuracy on Order Fulfillment and Inventory

Inventory visibility is one of the most common problems in the eCommerce industry. Death Wish Coffee relies heavily on inventory management, which helps them determine when to order more stocks, how much to order, storage, and expiration dates. 

DeathWish found out that this problem heavily affects order fulfillment, system adjustments, variance, and wrong quantities on the orders, which can significantly affect sales and cancellation rates.

How We Solved Their Problem

We focused on getting to the root cause of the problem with their team to diagnose and propose the best solution. We considered looking into the discrepancy of fulfilled orders, error frequency, and the adjustments that can be made to match multiple data points.

After diagnosing, we could pinpoint that their third-party logistics (3PL) was the root cause of the problem. The data from the 3PL are mismatched when it gets to NetSuite, causing wrong order quantities, adjustments on the cost of goods, and fulfillment problems.

As part of the solution, our team started to manage the day-to-day operations and ensure that we could monitor and manually fix any discrepancies in orders and fulfillment. The data from the 3PL are matched in real-time with the data on NetSuite. Since then, the data has been accurate, and monthly reports are now used to determine incoming orders and fulfillment.

Moving to a New System

A new Third Party Logistics (3PL) is to be connected with NetSuite to alleviate the manual work on the current system and ensure accurate data on both ends.
