How Categorization Helps in Easing Fulfillment Process

Multiple items in your inventory can be a big problem if there is no process to identify and sort your items. Classifying allows the business to have an organized flow of different types of inventory and helps maximize sales by reducing stockouts. Labeling them correctly also helps identify if the product matches the exact category that is eventually being used for barcode scanning once organized in the warehouse and sold via point of sale.

How We Solved Their Problem

October’s Very Own (OVO) had a problem printing out their labels directly from NetSuite, which can be sized differently depending on where it will be used. The printouts must be matched out carefully to avoid problems in warehousing and fulfillment. 

Knowing that the cause of a possible warehouse and fulfillment would be the labeling system, we considered restructuring the data to help categorize the inventory faster. We identified that this problem could be solved directly on NetSuite by having multiple output options for their thermal printer to match the size where the barcode and category stickers are needed. We then created the base data and configurations required to make this possible.

Overall this alleviates the concern about mismatched inventory and the possibility of fulfilling orders with the wrong item, which essentially impacts sales and operations in the long run.
